Magnets with holes

These are magnetic holders consisting of a neodymium magnet and a steel cylinder in the case of a magnetic lens. There is a hole in the middle of the magnet that serves as an opening for screwing in a screw.
The purpose of the cylinder is to protect the magnet from impact and contribute to the overall magnetism. It also shifts the entire force of the magnet to one side. This is why magnetic holders (lenses) have greater holding force than classic ones with the same dimensions. On the other hand, they have a shorter range and only attract magnets from one side.

What is the difference between a magnetic holder and a magnet with a hole?
If the object being attracted will touch the magnet, choose a magnetic holder. Once direct contact is made, holders offer a better strength-to-price ratio. They are also suitable if the magnet will be exposed to impact, as a regular magnet without a cylinder may break if dropped.
If there is a gap between the magnet and the object (whether air or any other material), choose a magnet without a cylinder. This is particularly suitable when you need the object to be attracted from all sides, not just the front.
How does magnetic force work?
For all magnets, we list the force required to pull an object away from the magnet. However, pulling an object away from a magnet is much easier than tearing it off. If the magnet is applied from the side, it will only hold a maximum of one-third of the stated weight. Magnetic force also decreases when the object does not touch the magnet with its entire surface or if the attracted object is not made of pure steel.
